Kurt is originally from Iowa and now lives in Atlanta. Kurt is married and has a son and daughter. Joe is originally from upstate New York and now lives in New Jersey. Joe is married and has two girls.
Kurt started his career in the appliance business with Maytag and says his most exciting project was helping bring the front-loading washing machine back to market in the late 90s by introducing Maytag Neptune. Kurt continued his career at Simmons where he led the Simmons Beautyrest brand and lead the non-flip design to bedding in 2000. It was a blockbuster hit for Simmons and practically the entire industry followed within three years. Not only in the United States, but also in many parts of the world. Before co-founding Pure LatexBLISS, Kurt consulted with Sealy, Spring Air, Kingsdown/Sleep to Live and some of the largest retail dealers in the furniture and mattress industry. Kurt was featured in FAST COMPANY on the “Fast 50 List of Dreamers and Doers.” He was also featured in Fortune Magazine and was recognized by UVA’s Darden Business School as a Growth Leader.
Joe started his career at Simmons Beautyrest, which is where he and Kurt met. Joe spent his first few years in many parts of the Northeast in Sales and Sales Management. He also was a Director in National Accounts. He worked for Ashley Furniture in the Millennium Furniture Division and was then asked to design and merchandise the Ashley Sleep Program. It was at Ashley that Joe learned principles of lean manufacturing that shaped not only the Pure LatexBLISS product but also the company.
