New Bed Smell

Like a new car, a new Pure LatexBLISS mattress will come with a “new bed” smell. That is completely normal. Let us give you some information about how long you can expect that to last, what it is and why it happens.

The new bed smell is Natural Latex Rubber. The fact that your nose is inches from a new mattress certainly makes understanding what you are breathing in important. Of course, the quicker your new mattress airs out, the sooner the “new bed” smell goes away.

During the manufacturing process, they actually add a hint of vanilla that you may smell as well. Be assured a new mattress does not smell like rubber tires for your car, is not as intense and will definitely go away quicker.

Most people will smell the rubber in their new mattress for about two weeks. More sensitive noses may smell it up to four to six weeks. The quickest way to have the “new bed” smell go away is to let the mattress air out. That means leaving your bed linens off the top of the mattress during the day. Again, what your bed needs is air and time.

The smell from natural Latex Rubber is completely non-toxic. We use latex-glue between the layers in your mattress, which is also non-toxic. Follows is the make up of what is in the rubber in your mattress;

Non-Toxic Chemicals in Latex;
6 non-toxic chemicals (acrylate resins, diphenyl diisocyanate, Phenol-melamine resins, Phenol-urea, Polyvinyl acetate and waxes styrene- butadiene copolymer)

Natural Materials in Latex;
